Ghostly Mansions of the Hudson Valley

$22.00

In 1976-1978 I was cook on board the tugboat Philip T. Feeney for three trips up the Erie Canal to Buffalo, New York. Each trip took over three weeks.

Our job was to tow empty sand barges north from New York Harbor up the Hudson River to where it meets the
Mohawk River in Waterford, New York. There we would begin our trip west on the Erie Canal to our destination in Buffalo.

The 363 mile journey would take three weeks traveling less than 5 miles an hour each day. We would go through 35 locks, and rise 566 feet from the Hudson River to Lake Erie.
